SNOW!!!

We wanted to surprise the boys this Christmas. We told them that we were going to visit their Granny and Paw in Atlanta on Saturday. We left around 7:30 am. Around 12:15 the guys started asking when would we be at Granny and Paw's. They knew that we should be close. We were in Nashville Tennessee at the time. We asked the boys if this looked like Atlanta...they said No...then they started asking us where were we going. We told them this was a Christmas surprise...we are going to Cadillac Michigan to see snow. The original plan was to drive 8 hours, spend the night in a hotel, then drive the rest of the way. Well, Cadillac Michigan was expecting blizzard like conditions Sunday morning at 5:00 am EST and we did not want to drive in that. So, we drove straight through. It was a long drive, but we were so glad to arrive. These pictures are of the first night and first day. We had fun in the parking lot of the Holday Inn! I am sure that everyone there knew that we were from Alabama!! :)

State Champs

We had the state soccer games this past weekend.

Clay's team lost their first game and won their second game.

Ken's, Cole's, and Jack's team won all three games in their pool. Then for the championship game, they just could not score. They stayed on the other teams side almost the whole game, but could not get a ball in the goal. So, they went into overtime. After overtime, we scored two goals and the other team scored two goals. Then we went into sudden death...The other team made their goal, and we missed out goal. So, our team came in second.

Luke's team won their first three games easily. Then the last game they had to win because both teams were undefeated. It was a tough game. The other team did a great job passing, but we had brute strength. Luke took it away from their forwards so many times. At the end of the game, neither team had scored. So, we had to go into over time. Our first three kickers made their goals and the other teams first three kickers missed their goals. So, Luke did not need to kick and neither did kicker number 5. Luke's team won state.

So, out of all of my boys, Luke's team won state. I am so proud of all of them. They worked so hard!

Zoo Day

The boys and Ken were out of school for Veterans' Day. So we took them to the Montgomery Zoo. We all had a great time. Tate loved seeing all of the animals and the older boys enjoyed seeing Tate have so much fun. When we saw a Bengal Tiger, he was sitting right next to the glass. We took some pictures of him and I got the boys to sit next to him. When Ken got close to the glass the tiger showed his teeth. Ken back away, then another man got close and looked at the tiger. The tiger lunged and growled at him. Everyone jumped. I said that I do not think that he likes men. So a woman went real close and put her face on the glass and roared. The tiger did nothing. The man came back and the tiger did it again. I was able to get a picture of the second time. It was soooo cool! The guys loved it and it scared Tate just a little. Of course, once we were away from the tiger, Tate was talking all about the tiger going "ROAR!" We had a great time!

Luke's soccer team won their district and get to go to state. Luke is on the 13 and under team. Ken's team that he is coaching is the 11 and under team. Cole and Jack are on that team. They also won their district and they get to go to state. Clay is on the 9 and under team and they came in second place. They might get to go to state. Sometimes the second place team gets and invite. The boys did and great job and I am very proud of all of my boys.

What in the world is THIS?!!!

Ok...so I am putting up fake spider webs on the house for Halloween and Tate finds this moving in the grass. Well, you know that I had to pick him up and look at him. Poor guy had ants all over him. I brushed all of the ants off of him and then killed the ants. I have tried to see what this caterpillar is. If you know, let me know.
Clay is going to take him to school so his class can watch him turn into a butterfly. I am sure Mrs. Evans will love this. Last time I sent a dead baby snake to school with Clay and Mrs. Evans had a fit. Not sure how she will respond to a 3 inch caterpillar. This is bigger than the dead snake. Clay has named him Hermi the worm.

Why did we go to Iraq?

Ok...one more video.

What Caused Our Economic Crisis?

I hate to go political on my family Blog, but this is a very good video. It is about 10 minutes, but it is very good. And the way that it is done, it keeps you attention.

I found these old pictures. They were from Mary's wedding back in the early 90's. We were some goofy kids!

Sick

Aunt Tami, I am so sorry that I could not post for a while. Ken brought home the stomach flu and it took a week and a half to go through the family. Then, it has taken almost a week to get back on our feet. We are feeling better now. Here is a picture of sweet Tate while he was sick. Bless his little heart. In a few days I will post some old pictures that Tami is going to LOVE! :)

Baby Powder Nap

We put Tate down for a nap. A little later Cole walked past Tate's room. Cole said that he smelled baby powder. He opened the door and this is what he found. Tate basically covered every square inch of his and Clay's room in baby powder. Now it smells great, but it is going to be a booger to clean up. The odd thing is, when Jack was little, Luke and Cole did the same thing. Luke, Cole, Jack, and Jack's room were covered in baby powder. Who knew that they can put so much baby powder into such a small bottle.

Mother of 5 could be the next Vice President of the United States of America

Sarah Palin, mother of five, Governor of Alaska, could be the next Vice President of the United States of America!
Absolutely amazing. She will be a wonderful role model for young women everywhere. We are constantly hit with what a woman really is...and most of us can not and would not want to live up to those "standards". Sarah is a woman that is a REAL woman. She loves God, her country, and her children. What a breath of fresh air!

A night with Granny and Paw

For my 20th High School Reunion, my mom and dad watched the boys. They took them to Sonic, then watched Alvin and the Chipmunks. Dad just sent me the photos of their trip to Sonic. I think Clay said he ate 3 banana splits! Wow...what an awesome night!

Luke and his Momma

I had to put this on here because it is so rare to get a picture of Luke. This is my big boy..ain't he cute!!

New Haircut

Ken taught Tate to say, "cut my hair, mommy" I LOVE Tate's long hair, but the guys wanted it shorter. I finally caved in. It broke my heart. I saved his hair from his first haircut...I am trying to decide if I should save his hair from his second haircut. I will sweep it up and put it in a baggy...then I will think about it. What do you think? Should I save it? Oh Tate...why did you have to be cursed with such gorgeous hair!!! ahhhhh!

Happy Birthday Cole!

Well, today is Cole's 12th birthday. We had Nan and Pop here to celebrate it. He also got to go to his school's first pep rally and he had a great time. This is Cole's last year being a kid...I am sooo sad that he is growing up so quickly. I love you so much Cole!

Michael Phelps...WATCH OUT!

Clay said, "Mom, I want to be like Michael Phelps, watch how fast I can swim!"
I said, "Ok sweetie, show me."
And this is what I got...the most awesome swim ever! I did not know that this could be done. If you look carefully, you will see, yes, yes, Clay is swimming with just one arm! I know you would think that would cause him to make circles...but no. He keeps the left arm down in the water, sort of like a rudder and the right arm does ALL the work. 2020...WATCH OUT!

Happy Birthday Luke!!

Today is Luke's 14th birthday. Time sure does fly by. I can not believe that my sweet first born is 14 and bigger than I am. We had cake and ice cream...it was good. I ate a lot of icing and my teeth turned blue. At, then end, Clay grabbed an air soft shot gun and shot himself in the leg. You may ask, "why?" He did not think it was loaded...but guess what...it was! So, now he has a red mark and it was self-inflicted! haha! That was the entertainment for Luke's party.
We will be celebrating another birthday (Cole's 12th) in 3 more days. So, we will save half of the cake for that day. And for those that are thinking...poor Cole, he won't get a new fresh cake! Well, I will put this cake on a smaller plate and it will seem like it is new! J/K The cake had Luke's name and candles and Cole's name and candles. We can't eat two cakes in one week...ughhhh!! :P
Happy Birthday my sweet Luke!!

Tribute to the Sombrero!
"Copy Cat Sombrero"

Ok...well...since I was jealous of the fun that Aunt Tami, Uncle Bobby, Bobbi, Cooper, Ava, Charlie, Rex, Fluff Dog, and fast food lady were having with Aunt Tami's sombrero, and I knew that we would not be able to get our hands on that salacious sombrero...we made our own fun with our hat from Mexico. This was as close as we could find to the "real" sombrero. The hat was not that much fun at first, but we did warm up to it...and in the end...we had a BLAST! So, here is our tribute to..."The Sombrero!" Our "Copy Cat Sombrero"

20 Year Reunion

Well, it has been so years since I graduated from Redan High school. We went to Atlanta to visit my parents and to go to my reunion. We first visited Jim's (my brothers)apartment. While we were there we played Rock Band and LOVED IT! Later that night my parents took care of the boys and Ken and I went to my reunion. It was really fun seeing old friends. I have to say that everyone looked really good. By our 30th some of us could be grandparents...EEEEKKK! Enjoy the pictures. It is one of the rare times that you will see me in a dress.

Models

While we were school clothes shopping. Dillard's asked if our boys could be models for their children's clothing line. We said sure!Jack was unable to go because he was on the 5th and 6th grade church trip to the beach, but we were able to bring Luke, Cole, Clay, and Tate. They had a treasure chest with a Nintendo DS inside. You had to pick the right key to open it up. Of course our lucky Cole found the right key and won the Nintendo DS. The boys modeled and they looked GREAT! Everyone thought that they were handsome boys. On the way home we saw a bus the said John McCain. I think that John McCain was in there so we waved and I took pictures. You just never know...maybe we drove past the future President of the United States. All and all, it was a good day. Hopefully I can get some pictures of Jack at the beach. :)

Visit From Cousins

It seems that when the LaBrant cousins get together, a lot of chidlren get hurt and we have to go to the Emergency Room. Charlie, Cooper, Clay, Jack, and I all got injured. Jack had to go the the clinic and have his head closed up. Besides that, they all had a great time. They went swimming, slid down the hill on boxes at Troy University, had a baseball tournament in the front yard, and ran around the track in 98 degree weather. We sure do miss our cousins...we had so much fun!!

Panama City Beach

We went to the beach for two weeks. My family was there for one of the weeks. We had a great time. This is one of our favorite spots to go with our family.
